Taking Money Out in Las Vegas

Added: 10-09-2009 | More Vegas News

ATM Las Vegas

Gaining access to money in Las Vegas is always easy because the town is built on the whole concept of spending money. There are a lot of casinos and entertainment venues in Las Vegas, which makes it sometimes it is too easy to spend money in Sin City. With the general realization that tourist areas are going to cost more money, Las Vegas also adds the aspect of gambling.

The easiest and best way to get cash while away from home is always through an ATM. There are ATMs conveniently located all around Las Vegas, but sometimes they are hard to find when in time of need. ATM’s will also take credit cards for cash advances if people need. Other ways to get money in Las Vegas include check-cashing, credit-card-advance systems, and traveler’s-check services. For people to get access to their money is not a problem in Las Vegas, but what people need to be careful about is the transaction fees.

By using ATM machines in casinos with high fees, people are down money before people even sit down to gamble. This is because at many banks have a transaction fee, and sometimes multiple fees. Most banks also impose a fee every time people use a card at another bank’s ATM which is usually around $2, and often the fee higher is for international transactions which are about $5 more than domestic fees. In addition, the bank from which people normally withdraw cash from may charge its own fee on top of it all. There is a service charge that comes along with using the ATM in most casinos which range from totally free to upwards of $50.

Another form of accessing money in Las Vegas casinos is to cash a personal check. Most hotels are willing to cash personal checks if proper identification is presented. Most casinos in Las Vegas use the Certegy system, which is a check clearing system. The casino cashier cage will run people by the Certegy system and Certegy will let them know how much they can write checks for. If people are going to cash a personal check it is recommended to set up a line of credit because the casinos have limits for personal check cashing.  For some people, they can write up to $3,500 every 72 hours if they have a line of credit established, but for others without it is just a couple of hundred dollars allowed for personal checks.

Around the Las Vegas Strip, Harrah’s is said to have the lowest ATM fees. For those who have a vehicle it is recommended to drive to their bank’s ATM, because it is considered to be safer, cheaper, and more private. If people do not want to pay high fees on taking money out in Vegas, it is always best to their bank’s ATM. Many US banks also have ATMs located around tourist spots in Las Vegas.

Classic casinos downtown include Main Street Station, Plaza, California, Las Vegas Club, Mermaids, Golden Gate, La Bayou, Binion’s, Golden Nugget, Fremont, Four Queens, Lady Luck, Fitzgeralds, Gold Spike, El Cortez, and The Western.

Different than the Vegas Strip, downtown Fremont Street has a lot of character. To attract tourists from the Strip, all the Downtown casinos grouped together to create the Fremont Street Experience. The casinos are bright and filled with lights which takes people back to the days of old Las Vegas.

The Downtown in Las Vegas is known to be a local’s area for gaming and nightlife. However, the Fremont Street Experience developed the downtown into more of an attraction for tourists. The north end of Fremont Street is covered with local casinos connected to the street with each casino unique in its own way.

The gigantic shelter covering the street occupies 5 blocks of Fremont Street. Although the casinos downtown have smaller gaming areas than the Strip, there is a great atmosphere while you are gambling. Enjoy the dynamic characters of downtown Las Vegas and listen to great live music during play at your favorite casino games.
